چکیده
Abstract Introduction Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) are two conditions that have increased in prevalence the United States. NAFLD is a spectrum of liver disease ranging from steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) cirrhosis. The purpose this project study relationship between OSA, measured by apnea-hypopnea index and/or arterial oxygen saturation nadir (O2 nadir) during sleep (independent variable) vs. extent as non-invasive scores such Fibrosis score, aminotransferase platelet ratio (APRI), BARD score FIB-4 (dependent variable). Methods A convenient sample 91 haphazardly selected veterans with OSA Veterans Affairs (VA) Computerized Record System (CPRS) system were included study. eligibility was determined abdominal ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, or biopsy. Dependent variables APRI, Fibrosis, BARD, FIB-4. in-lab polysomnogram home Independent AHI, O2 nadir, age body mass (BMI). Patients history alcohol abuse Hepatitis B C excluded multiple regression analysis used describe scores. P< 0.05 considered statistically significant. Results Age correlated fibrosis (p = < 0.001, 0.003, respectively). BMI 0.001). When controlled for BMI, AHI did not correlate fibrosis, Conclusion do severity fatty Support (if any) None

Results: The term “non-alcoholic fatty liver disease” covers cases of a wide spectrum of severity, ranging from bland fatty liver without any inflammation and with little or no tendency to progress all the way to non-alcoholic steato hepatitis (NASH) with inflammatory reactions and hepatocyte damage, with or without fibrosis. Some 5% to 20% of patients with NAFLD develop NASH, which undergoes a...
